Michael Tobin has responsibility for overseeing all Private Equity investment management and advisory activity at Vantage and has over 25 years experience in Private Equity management, advisory and investment as well as in management operations.
Prior to Vantage, Michael was Head of Private Equity at St George Bank, where he was responsible for the management and ultimate sale of the banks share in $140m worth of St George branded Private Equity funds.
Michael also established the banks private equity advisory business which structured and raised private equity for many of the banks corporate customers. Michael has arranged and advised on over $60 million worth of private equity investments into more than 40 separate private companies across a range of industry sectors.
Prior to St George, Michael was a Manager within Arthur Andersen’s Global Corporate Strategy Group providing strategic advice to a range of Fortune 500 companies and across several investee companies of private equity funds.
Previous to Andersen’s, Michael had successfully founded, invested in and managed through to trade sale a number of his own private companies.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of New South Wales and he has received a Master in Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management, where he was named on the Dean’s honors list for achieving a Distinction average across all subjects.
Michael also holds a Diploma of Financial Services from the Australian Financial Markets Association.
Michael is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Member of the Australian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association Limited (AVCAL), where he has served on its sub committee for Education.
